Illegal use of motorbikes is a nuisance along the entire river. Perhaps installing "squeeze gate" stiles like on the Tanfield Railway path would allow all cyclists, wheelchair users, etc. to still use the path but prevent rowdy youths … [more]

Traffic calming measures to reduce the danger posed by speeding vehicles along Strothers Road. This will create a safer environment for children to play.

Another really hazardous junction to cross - suggest banning left turning traffic coming from Main Rd westbound and banning right turns from Hexham Old Rd to enable crossing improvements - continuous footway?

Rat-running traffic causes issues on this street and the junction is dangerous for people on foot, particularly those walking to the nursery and schoolchildren. Preventing traffic accessing from the southern end would enable junction … [more]

Access restrictions to reduce speeds and volumes of cars on Barmoor Lane and to enable pavement widening.

Throughout unmaintained paths and resting areas. Feels unsafe. Rubbish everywhere. The railing to protect from felling into the river is nonexistent. Would be nice to have a river crossing to avoid the busy city centre.

Speed limit should be reduced to 30/40mph to improve road safety.

Add speed bumps. People swing round here fast and there’s nowhere for pedestrians to stand, especially as cars park all along the pavement

Crossing Whickham / Swalwell Bank at the end of North View is not pleasant at busy times. Can we please have a zebra crossing where the current pathetic island is in the middle of the main road? Sometimes the only way to get across is to … [more]

As you merge from The Avenue to Old Durham Rd there is a bend and you cannot see the cars driving on the main road until is too late. Even though it is a 30mph zone drivers drive at speeds over 40 mph. Either we need a speed camera … [more]

Stop cars parking here. Double yellow lines needed due to excessive cars accident waiting to happen from football cars

Only current entrance to school, impossible to socially distance due to narrow paths and/or people parking on path to avoid single/double/zigzag yellow lines.Make Road one way from top of West Lane towards Winlaton village therefore space … [more]

The problem is Gateshead Council's hasty ill thought out decision to make a major commuting road into a cycle only lane (Askew Road). This has caused a great deal of stress for the residents of Ochre Yards who find it difficult to leave and … [more]

Finish the bus route here to service the Southern Town Centre - the shops and businesses here want bus service and public transport

Need a traffic island to stop a car to cut in.

Stop through traffic for Car to improve safety of walker and cyclist and also to stop fly-tipping.

Junction doesn't work. Takes 120secs for the lights to change to green. In the meantime, pedestrians just run across the road.

Heavily trafficed road outside primary school is unsafe. Need to reduce or remove traffic here.

Make Hole Lane, Kingsway through to Sunniside Front Street 'Access only' to prevent the rat run of speeding motorists trying to beat congestion on the main roads.

A Zevra crossing is preferable to a Toucan crossing. Zebra have high compliance and permit better much flow for pedestrians. This route is a primary walking route into the town centre.

Close access and egress to allow pedestrians to cross. Traffic can access via the junction with Cemtery road and Old Durham road. This would eleminate rat running.

Dangerous roads to cross for cyclists and pedestrians. Pedestrian lights needed.

Difficult junction to cross for pedestrians and cyclists

The Coatsworth Road Raceway Despite a 20mph speed limit along Coatsworth Road this is routinely ignored by most drivers and it seems many drivers enjoy getting up a good head of steam along what is a fairly straight and wide road. Is there … [more]

I was knocked off my bike here and know of someone else who was in the exact same spot. If the timing is bad, as cars coming out of Tesco's approach this junction, cyclists coming up the hill can end up in being in their blind spot. I … [more]

This is a great bit of cycle path but can be very dangerous with cars coming from Berwick Road and Gladstone Terrace cutting straight across the cycleway. I have had to slam on my brakes a number of times to avoid a crash here. The give … [more]

Coatsworth Road is a busy street with lots of shops but it is also spoiled but too much on-street parking, on-pavement parking and speeding vehicles. I think the current availability of funding is a great opportunity to expand the … [more]

The road here is open to buses only while cyclists are forced onto a very busy multi use pavement on the side of the river. This pavement would be much safer and more enjoyable to use for all if cyclists were moved onto the bus only road. … [more]

Coach Road from Lobley Hill to Lady Park should be closed to traffic. It is on a national cycle route[really?], yet the road is mainly single lane and 60mph. It is used as a rat run by non local people. Residents are unable to use the road … [more]

Narrow footpath, impossible to social distance safely without access to roadway

Remove high speed buses from this link, make a pedestrian and cycle zone

If the turn from Durham Rd onto Beaconsfield Rd (both N and S) was removed, then the junction could operate far more efficiently for drivers (no weaving between lanes) and pedestrians (improved crossings)

This street should be made for residents only why Coatsworth Road is going to be a one way street this is to allow residents to park outside their house and not members of the public that want to use the shops.

This route made a really great east to west route for walking and cycling when it was temporarily closed. I live next to it and witnessed a huge increase in active travel in that time. When open to motor vehicles it simply isn’t safe for … [more]

The back lane (Westfield Road) from here down to Rectory Road should be pedestrianised lined with trees and seating with only access available for homes whose doors open in the back lane and to local businesses.

Vehicles cutting through residential street at speed in high volumes 24/7, heavy goods vehicles constantly crossing bridge. Dangerous for all residents, cyclists and pedestrians. Closure needed

Closure to allow the whole road to be free from high volume high speed traffic. This frees the space for a cycle link east west and room for walkers and buggies

You simply can’t get cars, cyclists and pedestrians over this historic bridge at the same time. The volume of daily traffic means this bridge needs closed to cars and be a designated safe crossing for pedestrians and bikes.

NCN14 crosses over Handy Drive and under railway bridge into Cross Lane. Closure to vehicles would help facilitate this as a cycling route but also help flows along Handy Drive itself by removing the RH turn at the junction for eastbound … [more]
