The cycle path along the pavement is narrow/overgrown in places and very uneven, with many potholes, so a lot of cyclists stay on the road. The cycle path needs resurfacing and the bushes need cutting back.

Don't widen paths! Keep cyclists and pedestrians apart. If anything, widen roads. I prefer cycling on the road in a marked cycle lane.
The pavement is extremely narrow from the junction of Beaconsfield Road and Kells Lane. It is extremely dangerous for children as so many HGV, buses, vans and cars use it as a cut through. Vehicles frequently mount the kerb. The road is … [more]

Illegal use of motorbikes is a nuisance along the entire river. Perhaps installing "squeeze gate" stiles like on the Tanfield Railway path would allow all cyclists, wheelchair users, etc. to still use the path but prevent rowdy youths … [more]
The stiles used on this path means it is not suitable for cycling as its the "step over" kind. Perhaps the "squeeze" type stiles used on the Tanfield Railway Path would encourage more cycling.
The path from Stella into Blaydon is relatively narrow, unlit and doesn't feel safe for vulnerable people to walk to the train station. I appreciate the fences either side are there for a reason, but the tarmac surface doesn't even stretch … [more]

A cycle lane through Low Fell much needed. One separated from traffic so accessible for children. Lots of parking on both sides of street - could be repurposed?

Expand and improve public right of way network to create a traffic-free route from Chopwell Woods to the rest of High Spen
Install a cycleway between Rowlands Gill and High Spen along B6315 to improve cycle safety and encourage more local people to travel by bike.
A segregated cycleway, alongside a new pathway, would make it possible to travel between High Spen and Winlaton on foot or by bike.

New road improvement at roundabout has no consideration for cyclists or pedestrians and has increased danger for cyclists in this area
Extremely steep "cycle path" wih very tight turns at the top and bottom, leading from the Angel Cycleway onto the East Gateshead Cycleway. No Cycling signs and steps on the obvious alternate route.
Throughout unmaintained paths and resting areas. Feels unsafe. Rubbish everywhere. The railing to protect from felling into the river is nonexistent. Would be nice to have a river crossing to avoid the busy city centre.
Gates at each sides of the cycle paths are a nightmare!!! Cut them ALL DOWN ASAP!!! How many scratches, bumps and swearing do you want you cyclists to be doing? Please Please Please
Bike track is rutted, rocky, great fun, very overgrown, underpasses are pitch black. covered in glass. Ok for me on my chunky bike but not suitable for many cyclists
Bike track - entrance from Lobley Hill side is very hard to see, dark, overgrown, path muddied, slippy, dangerous into subway. Have fallen off here
Visibility out of Nursery Lane is very poor for all types of traffic, and cars come around the corner of Carr Hill Road too fast - maybe the 20mph past the school should be extended?

New housing has been built over a number of paths which have been in use for decades. This type of piecemeal nibbling away at footpaths is a significant deterrent to walking as it makes journeys on foot longer and more convoluted.
