[Image taken 2.8.21] York rail station, York. A Sainsbury's has opened in the former ticket office. The opening hours are 06.00-23.00 daily. It sells snacks as well as ingredients and bakery products. The cycle rack that was here (see: #165421) is now outside the pub (see: #169923). This is a problem as people who have cycles with them will want to pick up food to take on their journeys/for their day but also pick up items such as milk on the way home. I did ask LNER about this and will chase it up. I wasn't asked about my bike on my visit yesterday to the Sainsbury's. But I did find someone with security written on their hi viz looking at my cycle when I came out of the ticket office: #165419. Providing short stay racks supports people to make sustainable transport journeys and supports the businesses at the station. The area including the rail station will be a transport hub. Many people will want to make use of all the facilities. Customer cycle parking is just as much a must here as for onstreet branches. Related images/discussion: #173702 and links.
