This road is dangerous and difficult to use for cycling to work/shops. Traffic is too fast and there is no protective lane for cycling. The A167 bypass is a main link to the rest of Gateshead, such as the Aldi and other shops. This road is purely design for motor vehicles which discourages cycling since cyclists have to detour through the high street and several crossings just to get to the same destination. Any children can't cycle safely on this road either. It is upsetting to see this concrete structure favour large polluting vehicles, and have little safety or protection for cycling or indeed walking. Maybe the reason some local people drive on this road is because they don't feel safe cycling on this road to get to work. No need to close the entire road, but it should be shared for all road users.
